March CDBA Event – Think GREEN
By Jeffrey Bohrman, Ph.D.
Did we all have super fun and memorable Valentine’s Day event last month?? We sure did despite the unexpected power outage in the area for several hours. We were busy entertaining each other and got started on the super fund old-fashioned game, Spin the Bottle, game? I could easily sense that you were all enjoying the game so let’s make this our CDBA Valentine’s Party game our annual plan!
Our next event is on Saturday, March 9, 2019 and the theme is to think GREEN! You folks better wear something green…. maybe an emerald ring or earrings with emeralds can do for the beautiful ladies out there while the guys may have to settle for just a piece of green ribbon if you have no tops showing green. You sure don’t want to get pinched! LOL!
WE will be providing lunch and with this wonderful meal in mind, we are asking, especially the DeafBlind people, to make a donation to help defray the costs of our providing lunch for everyone. Lunches do not grow on trees, unfortunately! WE will be playing a game or two afterwards with prizes for winners. The time of the event is from 11 AM to 2:30 PM. For those of you who use the paratransit (PACE, etc.), please have them come no later than 2:15 PM to assure that everyone is safely on way home before the doors can be locked. The location is at the Chicago Lighthouse on 1850 West Roosevelt Road, Chicago. PLEASE, PLEASE send your RSVP to Mindy Mayer at:
No later than Thursday noon, March 7th. WE need a head count in order to plan for lunch, please.
One last thing, I want to again express our very special thanks and appreciation to the Ramos family for most generously donating the super beautiful afghan with the design of flowers on it made by a family member to be used for the Door Prize. Congratulations to the lucky winner whose name I don’t have as yet.
One very last thing, I, as the President, will be unable to join all of you on Saturday as I will be back “home” to Columbus, OH as a keynote speaker for the 25th anniversary of Ohio Association of the Deaf-Blind that I had started in March of 1994. It will be nice to see my old friends once again but I will be seeing my “new” friends here in April!
